Quilting at the Ice House
When I lived in Houston, Texas I went to the exhibit of GeeĀ“s Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. With Margaret McKee, a fellow museum employee, we decided we wanted to learn how to quilt so we set about teaching ourselves with some books from the 1970’s and generally harassing any established quilters who would listen to us. Our enthusiasm spread to our friends Andrea Ritchie, Ashley Rodriguez, Sarah Mason, and my sister Jean Daly all joined in a quilting group that met up weekly at the West Alabama Ice House.
