My name is: Rose Daly
I am an aspiring objects conservator and this blog is devoted to my conservation education in the classroom at the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (WUDPAC) or just bits and bobs that I pick up along the way.
This blog is my work and none of the writings should be taken to represent any of the institutions I work with now, in the past, or in the future.
My main interests are:
Objects Conservation
Materials: inorganic, and modern materials
Preventive Conservation
Sites and Monuments
Theory
I grew up in Houston, Texas, the fifth of six children. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Art History at the University of Texas at Austin and then went to study Italian culture in Rome one summer. I loved Italy and I went back to work as an intern at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, and then to work the fields of an organic vineyard near Mount Amiata in Southern Tuscany. Farming taught me the most about working, and I was incredibly happy in the fields in Tuscany.
I like working outside and I like working on big projects, I work well in groups, more as a follower than a leader, and I like working with conservators who are really excited about what they do. It is a great job to be able to touch history, I can’t wait to be a part of the field.
